The project
What does it consist of?
The project consists in exploiting and selling to REGIDESO, the main manager of the electricity network in Burundi, the hydroelectric potential of the waterfall on the KIRASA river in Burundi. The site is located south of the city of Bujumbura at about 25 km along the National Road N°3.

Agreement
Public Private Partnership contract to design, build, own, operate, maintain and transfer two cascading hydroelectric power plants on the KIRASA River with a capacity of 16 MW.

The operating period is set at 25 years.

The construction period is 42 months.
July 2025
The projected date for the start of commercial operations is July 2025.
